The assignment for Day 5 of the January Cure is to select one project from your list to complete this month. “Isn’t today Day 6″, you ask? Why, yes it is.
I’m a day behind on posts due to overwhelming fatigue because a little ball of cuteness has been refusing to sleep at night. I don’t want to name names here, but hers rhymes with shmia. I’m gonna try to catch up, but I just might be one or two days behind until we all get some more sleep.
Criteria AT gave for Day 5:
- A project that can be completed this month, in a few hours.
- A project that will make a noticeable difference
- A project that you’ll be proud to share
- Take a few before photos.
- Tell us exactly what single project you’ve decided to tackle in the comments below.
- Do your basic prep work.
We chose one of the projects from our entryway for this one, to put up hooks. It’s the first place you see when you walk in (duh), it will make our space instantly more functional, and it can definitely be done this month. We want to put hooks up in our hallway because with the stroller taking up so much space, it’s an extra step to hang up our coats, but the throwing-them-on-the-dining-room-chairs thing isn’t working for us.
We already have three hooks from Anthro that I luuuuuurve and posted about here.
These pictures make me want to go run really quickly to the nearest photography course. (I’m considering Shoot Fly, Shoot has anyone else used them? I’ve only read good things so far, but I’m nervous to take the plunge)
We only need four hooks because there are four of us, but Anthro wasn’t selling the flower hooks anymore and a quick search didn’t turn up results. So we decided instead of trying to match one to the look of the other three, we would get two more for the kids with their initials on them. To that end, Tuvia and I ordered letter hooks from Anthropologie a bit ago:
We got the “A” and “M” for Aiden and Mia, respectively. But you figured that part out.
They’re also from Anthropologie so we get that same slightly vintage feel (Tuvia asked if they were dirty when he opened the package- fair point, dear) and Aiden loves anything with an “A” on it.
Here are some before pictures of our hallway that are more recent than the tour I did earlier this year
I might want to make the mirror more decorative now that it doesn’t have the hooks around it (DIY sunburst anyone?) and I’d love to disguise or cover the light fixture somehow, because right now it is NOT working for me.
We also want to put up art, overhaul the closet, and replace the light fixture (not sure that’s a realistic/practical one for us), but we’re focusing on this for this month. Overall though, I think we’re on our way to having a fully functional front entrance! Yay, January Cure!
So, that’s our project! We have chosen and now we must do!
What project have you chosen? Is it something you’ve been wanting to do for awhile or did you just notice it? And have you taken any photography classes that you would recommend? Share!

Your before totally looks like an after. Also, is that a good pickup line or what? Shera?
Haha best pickup line ever! I guess it is sort of an “after” because of what we had before this, but it’s before the hooks. So it’s a multitasker.
