First, I’d like to take a minute and laugh about yesterday when I broke the media fast before I started.

Hahahahahah! Classic.

But, we’re here to talk about Day 12 of Apartment Therapy’s January Cure: Declutter Books & Media

Hi, my name is Gilit and I have a book problem. I love books. I LOVE them. I enjoy reading on my Kindle, yes, but it’s not the same for me. I love the paper, the smell, the feel…you’ve heard it all before or maybe you’re the same way. I “solve” my problem of too many books by lending them out with a “oh you know, get it back to me whenever… no pressure, enjoy it as long as you want…yeah definitely lend it out to other people too”. That way, in my head, I still technically have it without it taking up space in a bookcase.

But people are so darn responsible! Returning books to me long after I’ve forgotten I ever had them.

I have such a hard time getting rid of books even when I know I will never read it again, even if I didn’t really like it in the first place. I like to have it in my arsenal. So illogical. Like a certain two year old I know….(“but I have to watch three more Dora’s because I’m two years old and Mia is two months so I have to watch another one”)

So today’s assignment was hard.

And that’s just the books! You know how many magazines we’ve let pile up? A LOT. I like to “save” them for when I’m bored. Bwahahahaha!!!! I wish I had the time to be bored! Heck, I wish I had the energy to be bored. If I have any after Tuvia and the kids, I save it for you guys right here ;)

Our music is on iTunes or vinyls and we don’t have that many DVDs. Speaking of which, I want to consolidate the DVDs into one small DVD-book-sleeve-thingy or into those skinny plastic sleeves and then in boxes. Right now they’re on our bookshelves and I don’t like having them out like that.

Although….I keep trying to make Nate Berkus‘ line at Target necessary to bring into our home, maybe this is how…

Although realistically, this is more likely

We can personalize it with stamps or paint or fabric or even *gasssp* leave it as is. I live to shock.

So, there are two things I got out of today: we let way too much “stuff” into our home and…we need a bigger outbox.

And just because I can…
