On Monday I shared the evolution of Aiden’s room. It went from white to blue, we changed the layout, and we added bedding and a rug.

Aiden's Room Evolution: stage 4

We knew that eventually there’d be another kid in this room and when we found out we were having a girl I was really excited to make it work for both of them.

Yet again, I waited until Serena and Lily had a big sale. It’s almost always worth the wait because you can usually get 50-70% off. So we switched the bedding and added a gecko to the alphabet print.

Then we switched up the art above the changing table…

But we wanted something over the crib and felt that the flower canvas was the wrong size for over the changing table.

So up went a gallery wall over the changing table, we moved the canvas over the crib, and we moved the alphabet poster to the other side of the wall, above the glider.

Finally, the “Room Reveal”:

The hamper was a fantastic find because I’ve been eyeing the Serena and Lily and Land of Nod ones but couldn’t make myself drop that much money for it and then I saw this at Home Goods for $24!

How cute is this tote? It was a gift from someone in the neighborhood from Bella Mia and the owner lives in our neighborhood too!

The ottoman came with our couch and we don’t need it. Anyone need a large rectangular beige ottoman? It doesn’t have storage.

The bed is a trundle from PB Teen. They have something almost identical on Pottery Barn that costs a lot more. We wanted to get Aiden a bed he could ostensibly have until he goes to college and while our Ikea furniture has served us well thus far, we wanted to invest a bit in this purchase. Beadboard isn’t really my style but at the time it was on sale for a few hundred less than the one I wanted (which is currently cheaper! Go figure.)

The spot over the owl canvas bin and toy chest is up in the air at the moment. We’re considering hooks for some of Aiden’s costume whatnot.Shoes Off Please | Aiden and Mia's RoomIMG_0057

I made the Aiden train from wooden letters and craft paint that I got from Michael’s when Aiden was born.

This doll was one of my favorite gifts for Mia, I’m totally head over heels in love with it. The “M” is from Anthropologie.

The shelf looks different here than in the big picture of the bookcase because a certain little boy ran off with some of it….

I’m constantly re-organizing the kids’ closet to accommodate their ever-changing sizes and needs. Honestly, not having storage space in the apartment means most outgrown things are at my mom’s house (thank you!)

And something pretty to end it off..

Whew! So that’s Aiden and Mia’s shared room. There’s a little bit more we want to do but we’re just about done and I’m happy with where it is.

Have you had a room you’ve done and redone until it felt right? I’d love it if you’d share!
